#DCTweetup 18: Sock it to Virginia!

#DCTweetup is crossing Key Bridge for the first time & organizing a happy hour for our friends in Virginia!

Come out to meet your neighbors & learn about volunteering with A-SPAN, an agency that’s been lifting people out of homelessness for 20 years, and how social media is bringing a voice to the homeless from Shay Kelley of Project 50/50.

Restaurant 3 is graciously donating 15% of all proceeds from the evening to A-SPAN (Arlington Street People Assistance Network) & our goal is to collect 150 pairs of socks for Shay's "Happy Feet" project. Don't forget to bring cash to enter the raffle too!

WHAT IS A-SPAN?
A-SPAN (@ASPANlink) was founded by two women in 1989 who began serving meals to the homeless from their front porches. This year, 1,500 individuals will get to take showers, call loved ones, do laundry, and talk to someone about finding a job or housing at Opportunity Place, our drop-in center. Choosing to support A-SPAN is choosing to make an investment in our community and making a statement that you believe we all have basic rights to food, clothing and shelter. WHAT IS PROJECT 50/50?
Shay (@project5050), a 24yo college grad, has a very ambitious plan. She & her dog, Zuzu, are driving to all 50 states in just 50 consecutive weeks. She will interview 5 people & document 5 stories in 2 cities of each state each week. Find out more about Project 50/50 at www.shaykelley.com
